
iambic, Inc. announced it has released the newest version of Bump Attack Pinball. The new version offers five new tables, Soccer and Dungeon, in addition to the Mars, Deep Sea, and Oakwood tables. The new role-playing Soccer game offers a realistic-looking field with all the attributes of a real soccer field, including the insignias for five countries–Brazil, Korea, U.S.A., Japan, and France. The Dungeon table offers the player lots of action and more graphical enhancements, a world of adventure where players can gain new skills, explore, and become part of the story.

AardAsNails Software has just released AardMemo–Memo Pad with Spellchecker, a new freeware application. It comes with a 170,000-word US dictionary, or a 230,000-word UK dictionary.

Apple Computer has halted iPod shipments to France for the next 15 days on account of a French law that prohibits noise levels above 100 decibels. Even though the iPod has been on the market for more than a year, authorities have only just now noticed that the product exceeds 100 decibels. Apple says the problem is fixable with a simple software update. Resellers may exchange their inventory for the new version, and customer updates will be available from Apple’s French web site in early October.

Mobility Electronics, Inc. announced that its Cutting Edge Software subsidiary has launched Quickoffice Pro for Palm OS handhelds. Quickoffice Pro, an enhanced edition of the office suite, includes Quickpoint, a presentation tool for viewing, editing, and using PowerPoint presentations on Palm OS handhelds.

Fastrax Ltd. and Sarantel Ltd., a UK antenna specialist, announced the jointly developed DioHelix 02 GPS antenna module. DioHelix 02 is a GPS receiver designed to suit multiple OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) applications. DioHelix 02 is a solution for applications benefiting from highly accurate positioning data. It can be integrated in various systems, ranging from industrial tracking applications to battery-operated consumer products. This makes DioHelix 02 ideally suited for mobile applications such as PDAs. The antenna measures 10mm in diameter by 18mm and will allow space saving for in-vehicle and handheld GPS applications.

PalmSource Inc. has teamed up with Good Technology to bring GoodLink to Palm OS. The GoodLink wireless corporate messaging system is designed to provide corporate customers with an end-to-end system for continuously synchronizing handhelds with corporate email and data. The agreement extends GoodLink’s continuous two-way wireless synchronization capabilities to Palm OS. The pact calls for technical collaboration between the companies to ensure a first class experience for customers of GoodLink on the Palm OS.

Hands High Software, Inc. announced the release of Slap, software for the Palm OS that converts notes to appointments, address book entries, tasks, and more. Slap provides the handheld user one screen to enter notes that is accessible by pushing one button. The user can enter appointments, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, task lists, and more into one screen in the same way as entering information onto a piece of paper. Later, to organize the information, the user selects it and taps an icon to send it to another application. Slap will interpret the text selected and make the entry into the program selected.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., and PalmSource announced that Samsung has renewed its license of the Palm operating system. Under the terms of a new agreement, Samsung will continue to develop and market smart phones based on the Palm OS through 2005.

Trust Digital LLC announced that it would formally launch PDASecure Enterprise version 2.0, at the Planet PDA Conference and Exposition show in San Francisco, CA. PDASecure is designed to help corporations and individuals protect the data that is stored on their handheld computers through password protection, multiple levels of data encryption, and administrative control features. The new version adds several enhancements for centralized administration of mobile security policies, including the ability to define security groups, export policies via Palm Desktop, FTP and email for individual users or groups of users, and an Agent program designed to push policies to PDAs in the field.
