ETS, Inc. announced their contribution toward the development of recently released ACT! for Palm OS. ETS worked alongside the ACT! development staff and contributed to the coding and interface efforts.

Palm Digital Media, Inc. released the first Palm Reader eBook version of Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations, 17th Edition. Published by Little Brown and Company and updated for the first time in more than 10 years, the latest edition contains more than 20,000 quotations, including 90 new additions, from great thinkers such as Aristotle to great humanitarians such as Mother Theresa.

First published in 1855 by American compiler and publisher John Bartlett, and updated every 10 to 15 years, the collection compiles passages, phrases, and proverbs that can be traced to their sources in ancient and modern literature. Edited by author Justin Kaplan, whose book Clemens and Mark Twain won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for biography in 1967, the latest edition contains quotes from 2,500 authors, including newcomers Eric Ambler, Maya Angelou, Kingsley Armis, Martin Armis, Margaret Atwood, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Jacques Cousteau, Emma Goldman, Katherine Graham, Mother Theresa, Rudolph Giuliani, Alfred Hitchcock, Tony Kushner, L.M. Montgomery, J.K. Rowling, and Tammy Wynette.

IDG.net has an article on New Zealand’s Wireless Data Evangelist Luigi Cappel who has published his first ebook, “Unleashing the Road Warrior.” According to the article, the book has practical ideas designed to help the reader use a PDA to work smarter rather than harder. It has been published in two formats which can be read on either Pocket PC (Microsoft Reader) or Palm PDA’s (Palm Reader which also has Windows and Mac desktop versions). “In the book Cappel makes frequent mention about ways of maximizing dead time, those lost minutes commuting, or between appointments and activities which are otherwise often wasted.”

The Stanford PalmPilot User Group meets at 7 pm on December 3, 2002. The Guest of Honor will be Anuj Aggarwal, a Senior Systems Engineer with Palm Inc., who will be demonstrating the new wireless Tungsten W. The meeting will be held at Printer’s Inc Cafe in Palo Alto.

AccuWeather.com, in partnership with Sharp Electronics Corporation, announced the launch of their new graphical weather service for Palm OS and Pocket PC users. The new SharpMotionART service provides graphical weather presentation for handheld users. The new graphical version of the AccuWeather.com Mobile service will be available for 160 major cities in the United States and can be downloaded for free.

Hexacto released The Emperor’s Mahjong for Palm OS. Emperor’s Mahjong features a unique storyline based on traditional Chinese mythology. A 320×320 version is also being developed and will be offered as a free upgrade to all game owners as soon as it is completed.

Karrier Communications has just announced their IntelliGolf scorecard software as a 3-Pak on CD-ROM. You can get three IntelliGolf CDs for the price of two and SAVE 33%. Each IntelliGolf CD supports all Palm handhelds, Palm OS compatibles, Pocket PCs, and Windows-based PCs all-in-one.

Palm Digital Media, Inc. released its lists of November’s top 10 best-selling ebooks.

Version 2.0 of the SCOTTeVEST has been discontinued. There are still some available, and they’re being sold for $99.

As we reported earlier, MARGI announced a joint promotion with IBM and Palm. IBM will provide a free Palm m515 and a MARGI Presenter-to-Go SD with the purchase of its iLM300 MicroPortable Projector. This bundle weighs less than three and a half pounds, and saves $548 over separate purchases. It was previously reported that the promotion would run through the end of the year, but it has been extended to March 31, 2003.
