Botzam wins Clie/Aibo contest

Botzam, Inc announced that a version of Botzam Macro received 2nd place in the Sony Clie/Aibo contest put on by Sony Electronics. The contest was to write the best software for the Sony Clie that controlled the Sony Aibo Robot. Botzam Macro was used to record sequences of tones that were played in Botzam MIDIplay. Handheld price cuts

Gary Ankney of EduPalm.org alerted us to the following price cuts on Palm OS handhelds. Palm has reduced prices on it’s M125, m500, and i705 from $149, $199 and $399 to $125, $149, and $199 respectively. Also look for a $50 rebate on the m130 and m515. If you register your rebate online with Palm, you’ll have the option of a check for $50, Palm’s foldable keyboard ($179 value), or $200 credit on your choice of Palm’s software selection. You won’t see these options until you finish registering.

From Handspring: the Neo is no longer available, the Visor Platinum is $129, down from $149. Look for a free leather case, travel charger, or DVD player depending on the model you choose.

Sony has reduced the Clie PEG-SL10 to $130 from $180 and the Clie PEG-SJ20 to $150 from $200. Get free cases and 1 cent ground shipping on all Clie models.

Life in the ZATZ lane

Here’s an important safety tip: don’t move your office in the middle of a freak snowstorm. Yes, ZATZ is moving offices and as a result, we’ve been going a bit bonkers (OK, more bonkers than usual). Don’t worry though, everything will be normal (at least by our standards, which is pretty far afield for some folks!) eventually.

So, if you’ve been wondering what’s up with us, why the servers seem wonky, why news didn’t happen last week, and all the other myriad of questions, well, blame the winter and the phone company. Yes, our high-speed broadband for the new digs was supposed to be in before Thanksgiving. Now, the phone company is promising that the T-1 will “probably” be in before Christmas. In the meantime, we’re publishing essential services, patching together systems to keep the information flowing, and occassionally mouthing words our mamas would want to discourage.

Here’s something to look forward to: we’re also working on launching a bunch of new publications. Stay tune in early 2003 for news of some really fabulous resources

More insanity

Ah, it just keeps getting better! The implementation guy at the phone company now claims January 6 for our new T-1. I called the sales guy who says, “no way, we’ll get it in sooner.” Ugh. We have to just wait and see. This last mile crap is one of the most critical failure points on the Internet infrastructure. We’ve got to decentralize how feeds are delivered

Following the Wizard you can specify whether you will track the time or numeric value; what units do you want to use; if the entered value should be stored as-is or if it should be converted into another value with some coefficient; and many other options as well.
