Joe versus the MONSTA

iNDUSTRY Entertainment announced the release of their game for Palm OS handhelds called MONSTA. MONSTA offers fifty levels of struggle between Joe and various kinds of monsters. The game comes in both color and grayscale versions. MONSTA runs on Palm OS 3.5 and above, including Palm OS 5.

New dictionaries coming soon

Paragon Software announced new translation dictionaries for Palm OS based devices. Paragon Software has signed a license agreement with Ultralingua. According to the agreement, the Ultralingua dictionaries will soon be available based on the SlovoEd dictionary engine. In the very near future (expected in January 2003) Paragon Software is planning to release the following Ultralingua powered SlovoEd dictionaries: Spanish-English-Spanish dictionary, French-English-French dictionary, and German-English-German dictionary.

Palm goes to China

Palm, Inc. said it intends to enter the China market in the first half of 2003. According to IDC, China is the largest handheld-device market in the Asia Pacific region, which excludes Japan, and will account for 70 percent of total shipments in the region in calendar 2002. IDC also said China is expected to generate 27 percent year-on-year growth in 2003.

Legend, PalmSource agreement

Legend Group Limited, a leading technology company that makes China’s top-selling computer brand, and PalmSource, Inc. have entered into a licensing agreement to incorporate Palm OS software in a new line of Legend products. GSPDA and PalmSource

Group Sense PDA Limited (“GSPDA”), the third largest seller of handheld computers in Asia and the PDA subsidiary of Group Sense (International) Limited, and PalmSource, Inc. announced that GSPDA has signed an agreement to license the Palm OS operating system. Under the terms of the agreement, GSPDA will develop and market mobile devices based on the world-leading Palm OS for the Asia Pacific region, including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore.

Bluetooth in five minutes

CNET News.com reports Mike McCamon, executive director of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), says he will urge SIG members at this week’s Bluetooth Developers Conference to adopt a “five-minutes-out-of-the-box” mentality.
