Infinity Softworks announced the release of a new version of the powerOne Scientific software calculator. powerOne Scientific offers built-in advanced mathematics and scientific analysis functions. Specialty calculation templates and button layouts have been added to version 2 enabling users to customize the product for personal and business uses.

Six Continents Hotels, Inc. announced the expansion of its existing wireless and online reservations service to include a modification feature and support for the RIM Blackberry and Pocket PC mobile wireless devices in addition to wireless Palm OS devices. These enhancements allow guests to access and change existing reservations made from any distribution channel, including reservations made via direct Six Continents Hotels Web sites or 1-800-HOLIDAY, where previously all modifications required agent assistance.

Mapopolis announced the immediate availability of Major Roads Maps. With a Major Roads map, you can generate coast-to-coast, address-to-address directions on your PDA.

Metrowerks will be releasing CodeWarrior Development Studio for the Palm OS Platform, Version 9.0 on December 20. It includes a Metrowerks compiler for ARM cores to allow developers to more quickly create applications for the next generation of Palm OS devices.

IBM alphaWorks reports IBM released Web Services Tool Kit for Mobile Devices. The Web Services Tool Kit for Mobile Devices provides free tools and run-time environments that allow development of applications that use Web Services on small mobile devices. This tool kit’s Java Web service run-time environment is supported on Poctket PC, Palm OS, and BlackBerry.

Proporta is releasing ProWord, a new dictionary for your Palm OS handheld. It contains 145,000+ definitions, yet it has a small file size (5MB) thanks to next generation text compression techniques.

AirSpell, LLC announced the release of AirClock Version 2.30, an alarm clock application for Palm OS devices that features a remote control capability. Leveraging the built-in infrared port of Palm OS handhelds, AirClock can turn on at a specified time any consumer electronics appliance equipped with a remote control. This new version features snooze duration, vibration, LED blinking, backlight, background image, and hourly chime settings. The infrared range has been improved, thanks to the new “Boost Infrared” option. AirClock also takes advantage of the high-power infrared present on some Sony Clies models and supports Tech Center Labs’ IR-Blaster.
