An Australian software developer is considering suing McAfee after the antivirus company wrongly identified his Internet setup program as a Trojan horse in a recent virus definition update. Mark Griffiths of Brisbane said he is “not ruling out” filing a lawsuit against McAfee even after the antivirus company released on Thursday an update to its DAT virus definition file that fixes the false positive.

Web hosting and connectivity company Savvis Communications confirmed that it has canceled about 40 accounts from businesses that were earmarked as spammers. Savvis halted the accounts after antispam organizations notified the company that it was providing Web hosting services to known unsolicited bulk emailers. The spammers in question were listed on Spamhaus’ Register of Known Spam Operations (Rokso), a blacklist used by many Internet services to curb spam volume on their systems.
