Toshiba is expected to unveil what it says is the first notebook with an HD DVD player Tuesday at the E3 game conference in Los Angeles. The Qosmio G35-AV650 adds a new model to Toshiba’s Qosmio family of notebooks, one that can play high-definition movies on a 17-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 pixels by 1,200 pixels. HD DVD movies are trickling out slowly, but there are several titles available, and around 200 are expected by the end of the year.

Thomas K. Equels, Managing Shareholder of the Holtzman Equels law firm, and attorney Benjamin R. Alvarez have filed a class action on behalf of Miami resident Juan C. Arteaga against Dell Financial Services. The complaint alleges Dell violated the Equal Credit Opportunity Act by refusing to provide credit to individuals based on their ethnic backgrounds.

ZZZ Software announced the unveiling of their new product–Terminal Service Client for Mobiles, also called TSMobiles. Using this software, you can operate a desktop computer or a laptop remotely using a Java-enabled mobile phone or a Blackberry device. To establish access, TSMobiles uses Windows Terminal Service or Windows Remote Desktop depending on your platform. TSMobiles recreates the desktop of a remote computer on the phone’s display and lets you interact with it in real life in much the same way as you would, sitting behind the actual machine. This includes an ability to execute mouse and keyboard commands. With the TSMobiles software in place, you can edit electronic documents that reside on the remote computer, read and send emails in Outlook Express, surf the Web using a browser, manage files and folders, perform administrative tasks and much more.

Medtronic, a global leader in medical technology, standardized its mobile sales force on Palm Treo smartphones. Employees are using more than 2,000 Treo smartphones as a wireless reference, communication and selling tool to increase sales force productivity and to improve inventory management. As a result, Medtronic reduced sales services expenses despite increasing the sales team by more than several hundred people, and reduced sales services call volume. To meet its business-critical needs, Medtronic built two customized applications–“SalesWire” and “Field Inventory”–on Palm’s open-platform system.

go2 Directory Systems announced that an enhanced version of its premium Java downloadable application, go2 mGuide, is now available on numerous Sprint and Nextel wireless phones equipped with GPS services. The new, enhanced go2 mGuide makes it faster and easier for subscribers to find local information and destinations by utilizing the advanced Sprint GPS services to automatically determine and search near their current location. go2 mGuide then automatically names and saves the new location for future use.

McAfee announced that it will offer Cingular Wireless customers mobile security solutions for business-oriented devices. McAfee provides comprehensive mobile security solutions that are designed to protect against and prevent mobile threats and vulnerabilities. Its flagship product is McAfee VirusScan Mobile.

Clearwire, a provider of broadband Internet access based on WiMax-like technology, announced on Thursday that it has teamed up with AOL to offer co-branded broadband services, called AOL High Speed-Powered by Clearwire. Clearwire, which is backed by wireless entrepreneur Craig McCaw, competes with providers of traditional DSL and cable Internet, however, its service is different because users can access it wirelessly via a small modem wherever a signal is detected.

mOcean is a new MP3 digital audio player for the Palm OS from MotionApps, and is optimized for the Treo 650, Palm TX and LifeDrive. It features a touch sensitive scrolling user interface and controls much like the popular Apple iPod. The program also does iTunes synchronization on Windows desktops.

We continue our battle of the phones with a review of a multimedia-equipped cellular phone, the Samsung A920 from Sprint. Over the past few months, we’ve reviewed the newest and hottest smartphones: the Palm Treo 700w, the Sprint PPC-6700, Verizon’s variation on the theme, the XV6700, and compared them all to the venerable Treo 650. This month, we’ll be looking at a few new devices, starting with the Samsung A920 phone profiled in this article, graciously provided to us by Sprint.

America Online is planning to launch by month’s end AIM Phoneline, a free service that will let AOL Instant Messenger users receive incoming calls from any phone, a company representative said Thursday. Voice over instant messaging is built into AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger, but AIM Phoneline would be the first to offer a free phone number. Those services compete with the popular Net phone company Skype, which was acquired by eBay last year.
