AnotherBottle game released

Paragon Software announced the release of a new Palm OS game. AnotherBottle is said to be simple but addictive. The goal is to steer your small helicopter through a canyon full of obstacles. Both color and monochrome versions are available.

Final beta of riteMail

The Pen&Internet division of Parascript announced the release of the final beta of riteMail multi-platform handwritten email software and service for multiple platforms, including the Palm OS. With this beta release, riteMail now works in conjunction with Microsoft Outlook or any default email program and takes advantage of all wireless connection methods for any devices using these platforms. This release also forms the foundation for Advanced Notes Recognition (ANR), the next step in a new note-taking infrastructure for mobile pen input devices, including PDAs and the upcoming Tablet PC.

IBM and Palm speed data delivery

Server World Magazine has an article on how major league baseball scouts are using laptops and Palm handhelds to record prospect information electronically and quickly deliver this information to the front office. They then use IBM PROS, based on IBM’s Lotus Notes software, to send and receive scouting and game reports. According to the article, “Data captured by scouts can be integrated with information from third-party organizations, such as the MLB Scouting Bureau. PROS captures, organizes, and assists with reporting of data, reducing the amount of time it takes information to travel from a scout to the front office.”

Travel Inc. and Air2Web

Travel Incorporated has contracted with BellSouth’s wireless alliance partner, Air2Web, for mobile internet service, enabling customers to receive wireless travel information via cell phones, pagers, and other wireless devices. Travel Incorporated seeks to wirelessly send full travel eItineraries, as well as reservation changes, security warnings, weather delays, and more to their clients’ digital, wireless devices. If any eItinerary changes occur after travel has already commenced, an alert will be sent to the client with the phone number of the reservation agent so that the client can contact the agent directly.

Acer s10 review

Palm Infocenter has a review of the Acer s10, the first handheld to run a Chinese version of the Palm OS. According to the article, it features MP3 and voice recording capabilities, a 160 by 160 monochrome screen, 16 MB of RAM, a 33 MHz processor, and a Memory Stick expansion slot.

Handspring’s outside sales force

CNET News.com reports Handspring plans to announce several steps aimed at boosting sales to businesses, including an alliance with an outside sales force. According to the article, the company has signed a deal with MarketLink, which will serve as an outsourced sales force with about 40 people pitching Handspring devices to companies. Handspring also will work with CDW-G, the government sales arm of CDW Computer Centers, to seek public-sector customers.

Copytalk unveiled “Listen and Reply”, designed to let subscribers listen to their email then reply by voice. Copytalk also announced a new price for yearly subscription and lower prices on existing plans. Listen and Reply is designed to let you dictate appointments, contacts, to-do items, and memos that are automatically placed into Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, ACT!, or a Palm Powered handheld.
