BoxWave has released a wave of new products. On the PDA/Smartphone front there are holster clips for the Moto KRZR K1, Moto RIZR Z3, Nokia E61/62, and T-Mobile Sidekick 3.

For cases, BoxWave has a new Active Case for the Moto KRZR K1m and a Designio Leather Case for the Samsung YP-K5. In addition, ClearTouch Screen Protectors have been released for the YP-K5, the Samsung SGH-T509, and several GPS units, including the Magellan Roadmate 2000, Pharos Traveler GPS 525, and others.

Fujitsu will begin offering SSD options on two of its ultra-portable notebooks: The LifeBook P1610 and the LifeBook B6210.

Fujitsu is gambling that the SSD options on these two notebooks will find a home within certain segments of the enterprise market. Paul Moore, the senior director of mobile product marketing for the company, said that SSDs are an option for specific verticals such as financial services, health care and sales.

Microsoft said its Live online service, which has attracted 6 million Xbox 360 console gamers, will be open in May to PC gamers who use its new Windows Vista operating system.

The move comes nearly a year after Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates said the company’s vision was for “anywhere” gaming that would link video game consoles, cell phones and computers, and is a key step toward reaching that goal.

Samsung Electronics unveiled an upgraded version of its ultra mobile personal computer in a move to boost disappointing sales.

Samsung next year aims to sell 200,000 to 300,000 units of the new Q1 Ultra model which will be available in May for around 1200 euros or dollars.

Samsung said the keyboard, battery life, wireless connectivity and size had all been improved on the second generation model.

The device had also been given a higher quality screen as well as a GPS navigation chip, a mobile TV chip and two cameras.

One such option is Seagate’s fully encrypted Momentus FDE.2. On March 12, Seagate began shipping the drive to ASI Computer Technologies to be used in notebook PCs with hardened security. ASI is a hardware component distributor catering to white-box system integrators and is using the disks in machines branded for sale under the integrators’ names.

FlipStart Labs, which was founded by Microsoft-co-founder Paul Allen, announced its plans to ship a super compact PC, almost as small as a Blackberry or other smartphone, with full Windows support. The first units for sale are slated to begin March 27.

FlipStart weighs less than two pounds but has a basic PC inside. The 5.6-inch screen provides 1024×700 pixel resolution. Under the hood is a 1.1GHz Pentium M low-power processor, 512MB of memory, a 30GB hard drive and integrated graphics. These specs are at the very minimum required to run Vista.

Palm CEO Ed Colligan may not be excited about the iPhone, but that hasn’t stopped his company from hiring a former Apple engineer.

News has emerged that Paul Mercer, a former Apple engineer and iPod interface designer, has been snapped up by Palm, although Palm execs are not elaborating on what Mercer will be working on in his new corporate home. Considering the age of Palm’s current Treo smartphone lineup, it’s easy to assume he will be working on some type of device designed to breath new life into the Palm platform.
