News has emerged that Paul Mercer, a former Apple engineer and iPod interface designer, has been snapped up by Palm, although Palm execs are not elaborating on what Mercer will be working on in his new corporate home. Considering the age of Palm's current Treo smartphone lineup, it's easy to assume he will be working on some type of device designed to breath new life into the Palm platform.
