Lenovo is revamping its ThinkPad T61p workstation notebook with a new widescreen display, enhanced graphics from Nvidia and better wireless support.

The ThinkPad T61p, as well as the display and graphics enhancements for the ThinkPad R61 and R61e, is available as of July 10 and will start to ship to customers later this month.

In addition to the updates to its workstation, as well as the enhancements for other ThinkPad models, Lenovo will also jump on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Energy Star 4.0 initiative and begin offering a number of models that meet the new standards.

IntelliGolf announced the shipment of its new IntelliGolf golf scoring and GPS software for the RIM Blackberry. The new IntelliGolf software will run on the Blackberry 7100-, 7700-, 8700-, 8800-series, Pearl, and Curve devices. Two versions of IntelliGolf are immediately available, namely the Birdie and Eagle editions. Both versions include the IntelliGolf handheld software, Windows-based desktop software, and synchronization software. The Eagle edition adds support for GPS and Bluetooth. With the Eagle edition, customers can view distances and track shots using industry-leading GPS receivers.

In a secondary announcement, IntelliGolf also announced the shipment of its IntelliGolf version 8.3 software for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones, and Palm handhelds. Version 8.3 adds a variety of enhancements to IntelliGolf for these platforms.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has introduced a new range of professional notebooks, all of which have integrated 3G connectivity.

The Esprimo series of laptops, which will go on sale in August, has three models, ranging from the 12.1-inch U9200 ultraportable to the 15.4-inch D9500 desktop replacement model. All are based on Intel Core 2 Duo chipsets and feature wide screens.

Notebooks with integrated 3G have become more common over the past year and, at one point, the technology was even due to be included in Intel’s Santa Rosa processing platform. However, talks between Intel and Nokia broke down, leaving the inclusion of such technology up to individual computer manufacturers. Intel is widely expected to include mobile WiMax connectivity instead in the next generation of its chipsets.
