The new Treo 500v smartphone will be available exclusively through Vodafone for several months.

IntelliGolf announced the shipment of its new IntelliGolf version 8.5 software for Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0-based Smartphones. Version 8.5 is compatible with Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard edition Smartphones, adds support for landscape-based screen displays (e.g. Motorola Q, Samsung Blackjack, and T-Mobile Dash), and includes free access to over 24,000 signature course scorecards for use with IntelliGolf. IntelliGolf comes in three models, namely the Par, Birdie, and Eagle editions.

Trimble announced the availability of two Nomad rugged handheld computers: the 800LC and the 800LE. The Nomad 800LE comes with a fully integrated 2 megapixel digital camera and an integrated laser bar code scanner. The Nomad 800LC comes with the built-in digital camera only. Both models include integrated Bluetooth, 802.11, and GPS as well as 1 GB of internal data storage. The 800LC is priced at US$2099; the 800LE is priced at US$2499.

Trimble announced a AA Battery Module for the Nomad rugged handheld computer. The new module allows users to run the Nomad an average of four hours using two AA alkaline batteries without affecting its rugged performance capabilities.

When running on AA alkaline batteries, the Nomad’s power meter adapts to accurately gauge battery life, and it records when the batteries were installed to better track battery use. With the AA Battery Module attached, the Nomad retains its MIL-STD-810F rating for drops, vibration and temperature extremes. And unlike other rugged handhelds that reset if dropped while running on AA batteries, the Nomad uses a special capacitor to prevent the unit from resetting after a drop or other shock.
