Palm Computing, Inc. announced the Palm Training Alliance, a program that provides world-class training solutions for corporations implementing Palm Computing platform solutions at the enterprise level. Through the program, 3Com will work with qualified training vendors to provide enterprise customers with easy access to high-quality training vendors, courses and materials. The Palm Training Alliance is one of several initiatives designed to enable seamless integration between Palm Computing platform devices and enterprise information systems.

A drive for the road

The docSpace Company, Inc. announced docSpace Drive. docSpace Drive gives account holders an on-line hard drive to securely store files and easily access them from anywhere with nothing but a Web browser. Account holders need only open a Web browser to simply login to their docSpace Drive account to upload and download files securely at their convenience. docSpace Drive lets users access their hard drive no matter where they are traveling or visiting. Drive will be especially valuable for users of small platforms or hand-held devices with little local storage, such as the Palm Pilot connected organizer.

Quartus Forth

Quartus announced today the release of Quartus Forth version 1.0.6, its new on-board Forth compiler that lets developers write fast, efficient stand-alone applications for the Palm Computing Platform directly on the handheld device itself. Quartus Forth is an ISO/ANSI-compliant Forth language compiler and development environment suitable both for beginners and seasoned developers.

Palmglobetrotter Project

The Palmglobetrotter Project is just about to start. Australian Gil Poznanski is off to America on the 1st of February where he will backpack his way across the country each day sending back an email using only his Pilot and Palm Modem detailing the occurances of the day. Using only one set of batteries per unit (Pilot & Modem) Gil’s testing the consumption of his Pilot, as his trip is lasting one month. 3Com Corporation has formed a unit to provide networks in homes with multiple computers and electronic devices. 3Com plans to introduce home-networking products under the HomeConnect brand name beginning this summer.
