The Australian Financial Review is reporting that Dell Computer will move more into non-PC markets as pressure from computer appliance makers puts the squeeze on the traditional PC industry.

Manage stock portfolios

Stock, an innovative new software product was released today. The software was written by Edmund Seto, a graduate student and researcher at the University of California, Berkeley who developed the handheld computer software originally as a hobby. The software allows mobile professionals to manage their stock portfolio and view stock quotes on the 3Com Palm Computing devices.

NetWorld+Interop 99 recap

3Com Corporation announced plans to extend Transcend network management capabilities to the Palm Computing platform. By adding the leading handheld product to the network manager’s toolkit, 3Com continues to lead the market in simplifying network administration and providing greater flexibility to troubleshoot and maintain critical systems from anywhere in the enterprise. Synchronized with the Transcend inventory database, Transcend management tools on the Palm connected organizer will automatically download network device data — such as IP, MAC and physical port maps — to help administrators more quickly resolve problems and perform updates.

Palm VII on Monday

News.com is reporting that the Palm VII, Palm Computing’s latest device, will be released on Monday. The report also says that Palm will debut its Palm.net wireless Internet service.
