
Socket Communications announced an agreement to provide Metricom with Socket’s plug-in cards for connecting Metricom’s wireless Ricochet data modems to Microsoft Windows CE operating system-based mobile computers. Metricom will offer the Socket Serial I/O Card as part of the Data Connection Kit for the Ricochet SX Modem.

Xceed announced the formation of the Xceed Wireless Division, which will focus on creating applications for wireless devices including the Palm VII connected organizer and Microsoft Windows CE compatible handheld computers. The applications, built using Palm Computing’s Query Application Builder software, converts standard HTML into Web Clipping Applications for the Palm VII organizer.
