Advance Systems Limited announced that a new version of its ASL-Connect management and synchronization server solution for Windows CE and Palm computing devices has been released and is now shipping. ASL-Connect 2.2 provides remote and local synchronization of e-mail, contacts, calendar and tasks between Windows CE and Palm Computing handheld devices and Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes servers.

Motorola today announced its iDEN plus series handsets released beginning in 1999 will have the ability to be upgraded via the Internet. Motorola has also introduced a software developer kit (SDK) to assist software developers to provide applications that can interface with an iDEN handset for connectivity to personal computers, Palm connected organizers and Windows CE devices.

Proxim announced that its RangeLAN2 wireless LAN technology has been tested and approved for use with the new Windows CE-based pen tablet computer from Fujitsu Personal Systems. Compaq announced in the U.S. the Aero 1530, as well as the new high-end Aero 2180 color palm-size PC. While the Aero 1530 includes a 16 gray-scale non-glare display, the Aero 2180 display delivers 65,536 colors. Both products are available immediately.
