
BrainDock.com announced that it had partnered with 21Store, the Internet retailer, to provide online software sales for the company. By registering on the BrainDock network, 21Store now offers downloadable software sales for customers at its North American Web site. The BrainDock solution allows 21Store to immmediately offer customers a full range of software running on the Symbian EPOC, Palm OS and Windows CE platforms.

Palm Computing announced two new products, Palm HotSync Server software and the Palm Ethernet Cradle. The new Palm Ethernet Cradle enables convenient server synchronization from shared spaces in a campus environment, such as conference rooms, lobbies and cafeterias. The Hot Sync Server software enables users to access corporate databases and applications, including those from IBM, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Remedy, SAP and Sybase, and extends the benefits of corporate messaging and groupware systems to handhelds, with bundled Microsoft Exchange e-mail and calendar conduits.

Novatel Wireless announced that it has partnered with OpenSky to provide custom-developed wireless IP modem cradles to OpenSky for use with handheld devices. These form-fitted modems will enable wireless access to the Internet, intranets and email using CDPD technology. OpenSky was formed in June of this year by industry leaders with initial funding from 3Com and Aether Technologies. OpenSky will provide Internet, intranet, and other mission-critical data to a wide range of existing and future IP-enabled wireless devices, including Palm computing devices, Windows CE devices, pagers and WAP-enabled phones.

BarPoint.com unveiled the BarPoint Shopper Web clipping application v1.0 for the Palm VII connected organizer from Palm Computing. The BarPoint Shopper Web clipping application allows consumers to wirelessly access product-specific information on over 100 million bar-coded products and will ultimately allow customers to purchase products on a wireless basis through the BarPoint.com Web site. The application will be available October 21, 1999 for free download onto the Palm VII organizer at BarPoint.com’s Web site.

Puma Technology, Aether Systems, Attachmate Corporation, AvantGo, Certicom, Globalware Computing, Inc., The Windward Group and ePocrates today announced the establishment of the Mobile Application Link Forum, an independent organization dedicated to standardizing the manner in which network-based applications communicate with Palm Computing platform, Windows CE operating system and other mobile computing devices. The Mobile Application Link Forum promotes an open, secure communications protocol linking networked applications for handheld computers.

AvantGo announced that it is partnering with OpenSky, a next-generation wireless communications service provider. When OpenSky’s service becomes available, subscribers will have the Web in the palm of their hand.

Yodlee.com launched the Yodlee2Go Web clipping application for the Palm VII organizer. Yodlee.com summarizes and gives users one-click access to all their personal account information — including travel reservations, bank accounts, brokerage accounts, credit card and utility bills, shopping, news, email and more – in one central place online.

TRG Products announced at PalmSource’99 that it has licensed custom installation software to OpenSky. The TRG software will make it easy for end users to install OpenSky wireless service software on their Palm OS computing platforms. OpenSky plans to release more details on their wireless service offering on November 15.

MarWare announced the redesign and expansion of its product line. The new line of neoprene cases is being released under the name SportSuit and has been expanded to include three case styles and various color choices. The SportSuit and SportSuit II are neoprene cases, offering new internal pockets for storage, a pen loop, a rugged zipper, a reinforced plastic ring for attaching a handle, a belt loop, and an external pocket.
