PalmIIIx giveaway

CommerceNet today announced that Palm IIIx handheld devices will be given to attendees of the CommerceNet 99 conference in San Diego on 1-3 November, so they can understand the potential of eCheck technology. CommerceNet 99 participants will use their Palm handheld device throughout the conference to purchase conference items.

Mobile Services for Domino ships

Lotus Development announced the shipment of Mobile Services for Domino (MSD) Release 1.0. MSD 1.0 allows Notes and Domino users to send and receive messages and access their Domino server-based information from small, mobile devices using global wireless data networks.

New AvantGo partners

As part of its Mobile Unity initiative, AvantGo announced that users with WAP-enabled phones and handheld computers will have wireless access to new applications using AvantGo.com. Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch, TRIP.com and w-Trade Technologies will be added to the list of existing AvantGo.com partners.

Melard Technologies announces Scout HPC, a full screen and integrated wireless Handheld PC powered by the Windows CE Operating System. Scout HPC’s design includes a magnesium case, integrated Touch Pad pointing device, and a water sealed keyboard that is designed for harsh environments.

AvantGo Client

AvantGo is partnering with Microsoft and Novatel Wireless. AvantGo Client is currently being bundled with Microsoft’s Wireless Connection Kit and with Novatel Wireless’ Minstrel modems. AvantGo, which works on the Palm VII today, will also have a new client for the Palm VII available in Q1 2000. The new AvantGo Client will offer users Web site access using the Palm VII radio.

Mobile Unity from AvantGo

AvantGo announced that it has extended the Web to tens of millions of wireless devices with its Mobile Unity initiative. Mobile Unity is AvantGo’s initiative to deliver Web-based information and applications to all classes of wireless devices, including WAP-enabled phones and Palm Computing and Windows CE platform handheld computers. The company also announced relationships with OpenSky, Novatel Wireless, AT&T Wireless and the WAP Forum as part of the AvantGo Mobile Unity initiative.
