
News.com reports that Palm is facing a shortage due to the tight supply of LCDs and flash memory chips. The article says that the problem is related to the production of cellular phones, which contain the same memory and LCD screen parts used to make Palm devices.

DocuTouch, a provider of on-line identity authentication and document collaboration, announced the release of free software that will allow Palm VII and Palm.Net users to directly access the DocuTouch on-line services.

Motorola, Inc., along with Starfish Software, a wireless Internet solutions supplier, announced the availability of Starfish’s TrueSync technology for the new Motorola ACCOMPLI A6188 phone. TrueSync allows users to create their ideal solution with many devices, desktop PIMs, or web based calendars including Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Organizer, Lotus Notes, Windows CE devices, and Palm-based devices.

Socket Communications announced an alliance with Amazon.com to offer Socket’s Battery Friendly family of CompactFlash plug-in cards online. Cards now available for purchase online from Amazon.com include Socket’s Digital Phone Card, which allows mobile users to connect a Pocket PC to a mobile phone in order to surf the Web wirelessly. Amazon.com also offers Socket’s Low Power Ethernet Card, and Socket’s Bar Code Wand Card for adding bar code scanning capability.
