Visor to sell in Middle East

Handspring International SARL announced the availability of its Visor line of handheld computers and Springboard expansion modules across the Middle East. The products can be purchased in the International English version through appointed retailers in Lebanon, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. Handspring has extended its current agreement with MDS Holdings group through which IMC Middle East, a division MDS Holdings, will distribute the Visor product family, including the recently introduced Visor Platinum and Visor Prism.

Millionth Visor bidding on eBay

Handspring, Inc. announced that the one millionth Visor handheld computer and first VisorPhone Springboard expansion module to be shipped are up for sale on eBay. All proceeds raised from the sale will be donated to Special Olympics Northern California. Both the one millionth Visor and the first VisorPhone are signed by Jeff Hawkins, founder of Handspring and Palm Computing. The five-day auction ends on Monday, December 11, 2000.

Work-order reports on the go

ComputerWorld has an article on a Palm application from Home Finishes and its partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York, that lets employees quickly make work-order reports for repairs while walking through recently built homes. The repair notices go to Home Finishes’ Clarify database from Nortel Networks Corp.

Vector rendering engine

Firepad, Inc. announced it has demonstrated a high-speed vector rendering engine for the Palm Computing Platform. The new technology permits the viewing of complex geographic information system (GIS) and computer aided design (CAD) data on Handspring Visor, IBM WorkPad, Palm, Symbol SPT, and other devices.
