
Yahoo has an article from Reuters which has finally gotten around to reporting on the Palm device robot kit developed at Carnegie Mellon University and licensed to a robotics company called Acroname.

Blue Nomad, LLC (formerly, BackupBuddy Software, LLC), announced the release of WordSmith version 1.0, a word processor, enhanced memo pad, and rich document viewer available for the Palm organizer.

TheStreet.com reports shares in Palm and Handspring were down 12% and 14%, respectively, while Research In Motion dropped 13%. However, the article says Jason Wells, an analyst at Wit SoundView, still rates Palm a strong buy and Handspring a buy, and his firm has done no underwriting for either.

Yahoo has a press release from Playboy Enterprises that says, according to the Playboy Mantrack Attitude Survey, roughly one in twelve men responding (8%) said they are having less sex because of the time they spend with their consumer electronics devices (PCs, PDAs, cell phones, etc.). The study also suggested that 25% of men, if stranded on a desert island, would rather have their consumer electronics devices than the company of a beautiful woman.

The software is designed to allow the user to track of all medical information for several members of a family, track menstrual/ovulatory cycles, set alarms for medications, pregnancy data information, screening reminders for breast, colon, cervical, and testicular cancers, keep track of all lab test results, and set physician appointments.

CNET News.com reports that analysts expect consumer demand for PDAs to remain strong in 2001.
