Palm, Inc. announced it has postponed next month’s PalmSource 2001 developer conference in the wake of the country’s tragic events last week. PalmSource was scheduled for Oct. 23-26 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California. Palm plans to reschedule the event for later this year or early next year and will announce further details as they become available.

Palm, Inc. introduced the Palm m125 handheld computer today. The m125 comes with Palm OS Version 4.0. The handheld offers a faster processor — the Dragonball VZ 33 MHz, operates on two AAA batteries and includes 8MB of RAM.The device also offers expansion via a Secure Digital (SD) and MultiMediaCard expansion slot for postage-stamp-sized content cards, and Palm’s Universal Connector for hardware accessories.The Palm m125 handheld has an estimated U.S. street price of $249 and includes bundled software solutions valued at more than $100.

Saunders, manufacturer and marketer of RhinoSkin cases, announced that RhinoSkin Aluminum Molded Hardcases for the Palm m500 and m505 were made available on RhinoSkin’s Web site. The aluminum cases will be available at retail locations nationwide in mid-October.

Palm, Inc. announced it has named Gareth C.C. Chang to a newly created seat on the Palm board of directors. Until last year, Chang served as chairman and chief executive officer of STAR TV and served on the board of News Corporation. Before joining STAR TV, Chang served as president of DirecTV International and president of Hughes International, responsible for operations in Europe, Canada, Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East. Previously, Chang served in a 20-year career at McDonnell Douglas Corporation, finishing as a corporate vice president and president of McDonnell Douglas Pacific and Asia.
