FilePoint 2.0 announced

Bachmann Software announced at COMDEX the release of FilePoint 2.0, extending the application’s ability to manage Palm OS files on the external memory cards of both Handspring and Sony CLIE model handheld computers.

Palm works with Rand McNally

Rand McNally and Palm, Inc. announced a marketing alliance that has resulted in a co-branded application for Palm m505, m500, and m125 handhelds that is based on Rand McNally’s flagship print Road Atlas. The PalmPak Travel Card: Rand McNally Road Atlas contains maps and road travel information for the United States (excluding Hawaii and Alaska), allowing users to create city-to-city driving directions for more than 12,000 cities, and includes a detailed database of amenities for more than 10,000 highway exits.

Palm Store opens at COMDEX

Palm, Inc. opened the COMDEX tradeshow with a new Palm Store, special product offers, and several speaking engagements planned for the week of November 12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For the first time at a tradeshow, visitors can purchase Palm handhelds, accessories, and Expansion Cards in a new Palm Store located in the company’s booth. Preceding retail outlets, the Palm Store is the first place the new PalmPak Travel Card: Rand McNally Road Atlas will be available for purchase. In addition, the Palm OS 4.1 upgrade, scheduled for general availability on November 15, is being made available in advance to conference attendees at the Palm Store.

Kodak selects Intellisync

Pumatech, Inc. announced that Eastman Kodak Company has selected Enterprise Intellisync software as its corporate synchronization standard. This licensing deal with Pumatech is enabling approximately 1500 Kodak employees to synchronize personal contacts, calendar information, and email between Palm OS handhelds and the company=92s Lotus Notes groupware system. In addition, Kodak is evaluating the use of Enterprise Intellisync=92s management console to configure and deploy copies of Intellisync software to desktops throughout its locations-=ADa capability that, in Kodak=92s opinion, should help lower the total cost of ownership for its handheld assets.
