
Electric Pocket Limited announced the release of an enhanced version of BugMe! Messenger, providing users of all Palm OS handhelds the capability to wirelessly email photographs stored on SD/MMC cards or Sony Memory Sticks. Users are now able to write captions directly on the digital photographs and send them as photo messages to any email address. It has built-in support for Kodak PalmPix cameras and IDEO eyemodule-series cameras and has options for users of both wireless and sync-only handhelds.

Pencel Corporation announced at the Computers for Construction conference in Philadelphia, PA the launch of Job Tracker, a handheld field management tool for the AEC industry with applications for time and material entry, equipment usage, and progress reports. Deployed on Palm handheld computers, Job Tracker provides direct integration with back-end accounting and project management systems and is wireless ready, allowing companies to leverage existing mobile phone service from wireless service providers such as Nextel and Sprint PCS.

ToySoft announced myWorkbench, a utility for managing files on the Palm OS handheld device. myWorkbench acts like a file manager. You can copy, move, and delete files from RAM and removable medias such as Compact Flash, Secure Digital, MultipleMediaCard and Memory Stick. In addition myWorkbench also lets you create new folders, format removable card, rename removable card, change file information, backup, and restore files etc.

3DAGames announced the upcoming release of 3D Star Fighter Pilot. 3D Star Fighter Pilot is based on 3DAGames own real time, full 3D games engine technology developed for all Palm and compatible machines.

Global Star Software announced that they have released Serious Sam for the Palm OS. In Serious Sam for Palm OS, “Serious” Sam Stone travels back to ancient Egypt to fend off invading monster hordes, explore vast levels of ancient temples, dark caves and massive pyramids, and save all of mankind by preserving the history of civilization. This adventure brings the 3D-shooter genre to the PDA and will feature tons of weapon and ammo to discover such as flamethrowers and rocket launchers, 15 levels to explore, and over a dozen types of baddies to obliterate in a serious fashion. Serious Sam will also include color and grayscale versions to accommodate various PDA capabilities.

RSA Security Inc. and Palm, Inc. announced a technology alliance that will enhance the security of the Palm OS platform and Palm OS devices through the use of RSA BSAFE encryption software. By selecting RSA Security as its security provider for future versions of the Palm OS, Palm reinforces to its customers that it is supplying solutions that are designed to ensure data integrity and privacy for transactions conducted via Palm Powered handheld and mobile devices.
Through this alliance, RSA Security and Palm will enable enterprises to protect their current investments with a trusted security architecture that is designed to seamlessly interoperate with both wired and wireless networks.

Palm, Inc. and Copytalk announced a marketing alliance under which Palm will become Copytalk’s exclusive hardware partner through March 2002. As part of the alliance, specially discounted service plans are available to Palm customers. Copytalk’s subscribers call a toll-free number and dictate contacts, calendar entries, expense reports, email messages, and other information using natural speech. Copytalk transcribes this information and sends the email as though it came from a desktop application and returns the application entries to a Palm OS handheld as though they were entered by hand.

Palm, Inc. and Be Incorporated announced the completion of Palm’s acquisition of substantially all of the intellectual property and other technology assets of Be Incorporated for $11 million in Palm stock. In conjunction with the completion of the acquisition, Palm also has hired several key members of Be’s engineering team. The deal was approved by Be stockholders yesterday.
The acquisition–related to Palm’s strategy to separate the Palm OS platform business from the Solutions Group–will augment the platform’s business capability in user-centric communications, Internet, and multimedia technologies.
