UTrackSys.com, LLC released a Weight tracking plug-in for Universal Tracking System. UTS Weight for Palm OS helps you track body weight and BMI (Body Mass Index). It offers various weight loss/gain plans, interactive charts, reports, and abilities to export data to the UTS database and to Excel through the UTS conduit.

New mobile phone display

Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands unveiled a transmissive thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) color solution for the telecommunications market. This display augments the company’s TFT-LCD portfolio for “clamshell-style” mobile phones.

SPUG meeting in May

The Stanford PalmPilot User Group meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month; the next meeting will be on May 6 and will feature an informal demo of the Palm Zire 71 handheld/digital camera. SPUG members are also invited to a user group event with PalmSource President David Nagel, after the Developer Seminar in San Mateo on Wednesday, May 7 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

CodeWarrior kit for Symbian OS

Siemens AG and Metrowerks, maker of CodeWarrior software and hardware development tools and services, have collaborated to create CodeWarrior Wireless Development Kit for Symbian OS, Siemens SX1 Edition. The kit, built for the newest Series 60-based Siemens SX1 smartphone is expected to provide developers with the tools and services they need to start building Symbian-based applications and games for the Siemens SX1 and other Series 60 devices – all in the CodeWarrior environment.

SyncML and A1 Organizer

Mobilkom Austria and Weblicon announced the world’s first wireless SyncML server in a mobile operator environment on the Sun ONE platform. The Weblicon SyncML server provides over-the-air synchronization of Mobilkom Austria’s A1 ORGANIZER with mobile phones from Nokia, SonyEricsson, or Siemens. A1 ORGANIZER provides communications and personal information management (PIM) services based on the Sun ONE Messaging Server and Sun ONE Calendar Server. With the new SyncML solution, users can synchronize the address book and calendar of their A1 ORGANIZER with the built-in address book and calendar of a mobile phone. Users can also synchronize their A1 ORGANIZER with Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express desktop organizer and Palm or Pocket PC PDAs.

Play JUMBLE wirelessly

Mobliss, Inc. announced the upcoming release of a new version of its Wireless JUMBLE, now a cross-platform, multi-player game developed for QUALCOMM’s Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW) platform. JUMBLE is licensed in partnership with Tribune Media Services (TMS), an international content syndication company. TMS’s syndicated JUMBLE is a word game that appears daily in more than 600 newspapers across the country and is played regularly by more than 450,000 wireless users. Mobliss expects that number to increase dramatically now that the game is available for the BREW platform.

ScorePAD scores World Series

Babe Ruth League, Inc. has named ScorePAD, the PDA-based baseball scoring system, its official scorekeeping and statistics software for the 2003-04 World Series. ScorePAD will be used to score each game and compile all statistics associated with nine World Series venues for the next two seasons.

Telcel chooses LocatioNet

LocatioNet announced that Telcel has chosen LocatioNet’s LBS middleware platform and GIS engine for the deployment of Location Based Services in Mexico. With this contract, Telcel will be the first wireless operator in the country to offer commercial Location Based Services.
