
Razab-Sekh Information Company (RSIC) from the Netherlands released BerryVine Messenger, an IM application for RIM’s BlackBerry handheld platform. With BerryVine Messenger, BlackBerry users can finally use Microsoft’s MSN platform in a way similar to usage from their desktop computers, without any hidden costs.

We just fixed bug in image display where old, legacy articles (those whose URLs were indexed by descriptive name, rather than number) did not display images correctly. If you were looking at some of our back-issue articles (those created before March 2003), the images didn’t display after we did our big server change. That’s now been fixed.

LeapFrog Enterprises has created a pentop computer, a talking, computerized pen that can translate words into other languages, or help with math and spelling homework. LeapFrog, announcing the launch Wednesday, said the Fly device will give children audio feedback as they write and draw on special Fly paper. For instance, the company said, someone can draw a calculator, touch the handwritten digits and functions to perform an operation, and then hear the answers announced.

Wireless carrier T-Mobile acknowledges that an online attacker gained access to its network but denies reports that the criminal had the run of its network or broadly threatened its customers’ privacy. The mobile phone provider said Wednesday that it discovered the breach in late 2003 and immediately took steps to lock out the intruder. A subsequent investigation found that the unidentified person had accessed the name and Social Security numbers of 400 T-Mobile customers.

Beiks announced it has opened a new section of its Web site devoted to software compatible with Fossil’s new Abacus Wrist PDA. The initial software offerings in Beiks’ store include essential utilities, plus a fun game for entertainment on-the-go. Future offerings will include the dictionaries and reference works for which Beiks is known.

CBL Data Recovery Technologies has developed a non-invasive procedure for retrieving multi-media files from Apple’s iPod digital music player. Users with damaged iPods can now send in the units for recovery of their music files without fear of voiding Apple warranties since in most instances CBL does not require invasive techniques to recovery the information.

Speaking to ChartTrack, SPOnG was told, “The N-Gage chart, though still produced, is of little interest to anyone. Sales of the machine and its software have failed to make any impact on the market at all. We still keep sales charted and are available on monthly, quarterly and annual reports, though we have dropped the platform from the ELSPA chart following a lack of interest.”

New notebooks featuring Intel’s Sonoma chip bundle, the new version of Centrino, will debut on Jan. 19, according to the company. Sonoma will include a new version of the Pentium M processor for notebooks that will come with 2MB of cache, a chipset that contains features such as DDR 2 memory support and PCI Express for faster data transfer, a Wi-Fi chip that handles 802.11 a/b/g transmission and high-definition.

Apple Computer announced that sports car maker Ferrari and four other automobile manufacturers plan to offer kits that meld its iPod music player with their car stereo systems. The adapters will allow drivers to access songs stored on their iPods via their car stereo controls, including steering-wheel-mounted buttons.
