Enpocket announced that A&E Network has selected the company to provide mobile interactivity for two series: Dog the Bounty Hunter and King of Cars. A&E viewers now will be able to use their mobile phones to participate in contests and interact with the shows.

Nomadix and ROC-net Services, a co-operation of local private businesses providing Internet connectivity and other high-tech solutions in Northern Illinois, launched a Wi-Fi canopy for downtown Rockford. The deployment is the first step in a wider initiative to provide wireless broadband services to 10 counties in the region. To power the deployment, ROC-net Services has installed new “cellular-style” base stations on top of buildings owned by Fridh Corporation, a local real estate development firm.

Belkin’s new TunePower for iPod video keeps your videos and tunes playing even when the internal battery is drained. Giving you up to six hours of additional video playtime, this rechargeable battery pack lets you finish your movie and catch up on the shows you missed last week. The iPod video allows for approximately two hours of video viewing, which may not be enough to last until you reach your iPod dock. TunePower will give you this extra time so you can watch your videos, making it ideal for long flights, hikes, or for anytime you do not have access to an AC outlet. The TunePower for iPod video will ship in North America in late March 2006.

United Online announced that its social networking subsidiary, Classmates Online has acquired Opobox, which operates The Names Database, for approximately $10 million in cash. The Names Database is a social networking service that helps members find, connect and keep in touch with friends, family and classmates throughout the world. All member email addresses are kept secure and private, and are never shown on the site. Instead, Namesdatabase.com acts as an intermediary between members, who can send messages through the site to each other.

Dobson Cellular Systems and Research In Motion introduced the BlackBerry 8700g to mobile professionals in the United States. The BlackBerry 8700g is a sleek, lightweight handset that features a completely re-engineered device platform that is optimized to significantly enhance performance and usability. The BlackBerry 8700g is now available on Dobson’s high-speed EDGE network.

Research In Motion announced plans to bring BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.1 and BlackBerry Enterprise Server-Small Business Edition v4.1 to Novell GroupWise customers in early April. The new BlackBerry server software is debuting at BrainShare 2006 this week and will be showcased by Novell and RIM.
