SanDisk announced it will offer broad support for the Windows ReadyBoost feature of Microsoft’s new Windows Vista operating system. Select USB flash drives from SanDisk with capacities of 1GB or more that ship after mid-February will be compatible with Windows ReadyBoost, as will select flash memory cards available later in the year.

SanDisk introduced the Memory Stick Micro product line–an ultra-thin, removable storage card for use with Sony Ericsson’s latest generation of slim line, multimedia mobile phones like the Cyber-shot and the Walkman series phones. The SanDisk M2 cards are available in 2GB–the market’s highest capacity M2, followed by the 1GB and 512-megabyte.

SanDisk introduced Cruzer Contour, a USB flash drive with the elegant look and feel of a fine fountain pen or wristwatch. The elegance extends inside Cruzer Contour, with state-of-the-art engineering, support for Windows ReadyBoost, and, a generous gallery of pre-installed U3 software applications.

Lexar Media announced that its full 2007 line of JumpDrive USB Flash drives provides full compatibility with Microsoft Windows Vista, enabling customers to take advantage of features such as BitLocker Drive Encryption, and Windows PE 2.0 for Vista. In addition, the company’s speed-rated JumpDrive Lightning, JumpDrive Mercury, and newly announced JumpDrive 360 are enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost, which can improve overall system performance by using portable flash memory devices as additional system memory.

Hewlett-Packard plans to roll out a number of new products that offer what company officials hope is a complete package of offerings for the digital home. All these various hardware components will be on display at the International CES in Las Vegas. Starting on Jan. 8, Hewlett-Packard is slated to unveil a 12-inch HP Pavilion tx1000 tablet notebook, a touch-screen PC specifically geared toward home entertainment and automation and a new digital entertainment home server that will also have appeal to small and midsize business users.

As reported by LinuxDevices.com, the N800 is now for sale at some CompUSA stores for $399.99. This new model, from sources close to Nokia and the Carrypad Web site, appears to be a substantial upgrade to the Nokia 770. Some of these are changes that Linux tablet fans have been requesting for some time. These include increasing the RAM from the older model to 12 MB and its flash memory to 256MB. The processor has also been given a kick in the pants with an increase in speed from 220MHz to 320MHz. The new tablet also boasts a VGA (640×480) resolution Web cam. The microphone has also been moved to make the unit more friendly as a phone. The unit also has two SD flash memory card slots, whereas the 770 only had a single RS-MMC (reduced size multimedia cards) slot. One of these slots is located as an internal slot under the back cover, and the other is located under the memory card cover on the front corner of the tablet. Both memory cards can be hot swapped in and out while the unit is powered up.
