Apple has determined that under certain conditions the new ultracompact Apple USB power adapter’s metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock.

Today Apple announced the Apple Ultracompact USB Power Adapter Exchange program. The ultracompact USB power adapters were supplied with every iPhone 3G sold in the following countries, and may also have been purchased separately as an accessory.

Comcast officially submitted its network management plans to the FCC. As expected, they include no more stomping on BitTorrent, replacing that scheme with “slow(ing) Internet speeds for its heaviest users at peak times when its network is congested,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

Sony Ericsson has launched a global blog partnership programme for its mobile camera phone competition World View 2008. For the first time a select number of bloggers will be invited to become exclusive partners of one of the world’s largest mobile phone camera competitions. Blog partners can display a widget on their site stating that they are an official partner of the global competition. The widget displays rotating photographs that have been entered into the competition.

Last week Apple proved they are not ready for prime time enterprise relationships. Apple has tried to position the iPhone as enterprise-ready, but this last round of software updates demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt how far they have to go to understand the enterprise mentality.

The Lenovo ThinkPad lineup grew a little bigger this week when Lenovo revealed the ThinkPad X200s notebook and the ThinkPad X200 tablet. The Lenovo ThinkPad X200s will give Lenovo an ultraportable laptop to compete against the likes of Toshiba, while the ThinkPad X200 tablet will eventually replace the ThinkPad X61 tablet notebook.

With a 12.1-inch widescreen and an SSD (solid state drive) option, the ThinkPad X200s will be able to compete against the likes of the Toshiba Portege R500-S5007V, another ultraportable laptop that came out earlier this year. The ThinkPad X200s weighs about 2.4 pounds, but users can add an extended 9-cell battery option that increases the weight by about a half pound but will extend the battery life up to 13 hours, according to Lenovo.

London taxi passengers have left more than 60,000 handheld devices in the back of black cabs during the past six months, a survey has found. Some 55,843 mobile phones and 6,193 other devices, such as laptops, were forgotten, Credant Technologies found.

The data protection company, which surveyed 300 taxi drivers, warned users to password-protect equipment amid rising fears of identity theft. Fraud experts said such devices could give criminals crucial data.

Research In Motion announced further details about the BlackBerry Developer Conference, which will take place October 20 – 22, 2008 in Santa Clara, California. The agenda includes an opening keynote address by RIM founder, president and co-CEO Mike Lazaridis, as well as five tracks, over 75 sessions, and the opportunity to hear first-hand about the winners of the BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge.

Support for Office Communications Server 2007 advances the features and functionality already available on the BlackBerry platform for Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005. The new offering includes an instant messaging application (BlackBerry IM client) for BlackBerry smartphones that provides enhanced presence information and deeper integration with core BlackBerry smartphone applications including the phone, browser, address book and calendar for a highly intuitive and interactive experience.
