
AvantGo announced an electronic commerce initiative that will allow you to purchase goods and services using handheld devices and smart phones. AvantGo also announced that Amazon.com will join this initiative.

Palm Computing announced the availability of the Palm Vx Special Edition and Palm IIIe Special Edition products. 3Com also reduced prices on the full line of Palm Computing organizers and introduced a set of translucent flip covers for the Palm III organizer products.

Palm Computing announced the nationwide availability of the Palm VII connected organizer at a new price of U.S. $499. Palm also unveiled a new, expanded Palm.Net monthly service plan for heavy users, plus third-party solutions that enable users to connect to a variety of email systems via their Palm VII organizers.

Intermec Technologies Corp.’s Norand Mobile Systems Division launched its new RoutePower application software for Windows CE. RoutePower for Windows CE supports TCP/IP and Ethernet. RoutePower for Windows CE is designed to work in networks supporting hundreds and even thousands of remote users.

Stamps.com announced a partnership in which Lotus will provide Stamps.com service through a Smart Icon on the Lotus Organizer Release 6 toolbar. Stamps.com will also be featured on trial CD-ROMs for Lotus Organizer and on Organizer packaging. Additionally, Stamps.com will provide information about Lotus Organizer on its Web site, and will make a trial version of Lotus Organizer available on the installation CD-ROM to potential Stamps.com customers.

Homestore.com has developed an application designed specifically for the Palm VII connected organizer that provides Palm VII users with wireless Internet access to a database of residential homes for sale, new homes and rental properties available on the Internet via Homestore.com’s family of real estate Web sites.

It looks like Handspring’s Visor will ship sooner than expected, according to this article from Tech Web. They report that Visor will ship in two weeks. The article also reports that Handspring will announce the addition of Bluetooth technology at Internet World.
