
UbiNetics is going to make it possible to use your Palm V as if it were a mobile phone by the end of the year, if you are on a GSM network. At CommunicAsia 2000, the company showed the GDA 100 Palm V GSM that allows users to surf the Internet, send and receive email, and send faxes. The product will debut in Singapore.

Evoke Communications, an Internet communication service provider, announced it will launch its Mobile Webconferencing application for the Palm OS Software during the Streaming Media East Conference in New York. The Mobile Webconferencing application allows users to conduct an Evoke Webconference using a Palm V or Palm VII handheld. It will also allow users to initiate a conference, operate conference controls, and begin a Webcast using their mobile device.

AvantGo announced that it is now shipping software to synchronize Lotus Notes custom applications and personal information management (PIM) applications on mobile devices with the Palm OS platform. By acquiring Globalware Computing, AvantGo has broadened its AvantGo Enterprise solutions to provide corporate customers with the ability to wirelessly extend Web-based and Lotus Notes-based applications to their employees and customers using mobile devices and Internet-enabled phones.
