Education Purchase Program

Palm, Inc. announced an Education Purchase Program that gives schools a cost-effective way to implement technology and to enable equity among students by making access to handheld computers readily available. The program is designed to assist schools in deploying Palm handhelds in classrooms, in larger school projects and in campus-wide initiatives. It is open to all K-12 schools, colleges and universities in the U.S.

PocketAdmin v.1.9 released

Expand Beyond Corporation released the latest version of their mobile server and network management software product, PocketAdmin v.1.9. PocketAdmin is a secure mobile SSH terminal that offers an end-to-end real-time link from Pocket PC, Palm OS, and Embedix (Embedded Linux) handheld devices to target systems. GoAmerica in Fast 50

GoAmerica, Inc. has been named to Deloitte & Touche’s “Technology Fast 50” Program for the Tri-State region, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the area. Rankings are based on the percentage of growth in fiscal year revenues from 1997-2001. GoAmerica’s increase in revenues of 22,451 percent from 1997 to 2001 resulted in a number 4 ranking overall in the Fast 50 for the Tri-State region. The average increase in revenues among companies who made the Fast 50 for this region was 794 percent.

Palm raising money for split

CNET News.com reports Palm is in talks to raise money from strategic investors as it seeks to separate its operating system unit from the part of the company that builds and sells handheld computers. According to the article, Palm’s goal is to split into two separately traded public companies by around year’s end or early next year at the latest.
