Virus writers have unleashed the first program that infects 64-bit Windows files, antivirus firm Symantec said Monday. The virus, dubbed W64.Shruggle by Symantec, seems mainly to be an experiment to test the concept of a 64-bit infecter and is not actively spread, said Alfred Huger, senior director of security at Symantec.

Business travelers will be able to surf the Web securely on long-distance flights by combining services from Boeing and iPass. iPass, which makes software that connects travelers to their offices from remote locations, said corporate customers will be able to connect to the Web on planes within six months using wireless links from Boeing. The companies are betting that business travelers, who already connect their laptop computers wirelessly in hotels, cafes and airports around the world, want to stay connected on the plane.

Tapland reports that David Wenning, Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Tapwave, announced at at the New England Palm User Group monthly meeting last week that Tapwave will be expanding sales to include international markets starting this fall with English-speaking countries in Europe first and Asia to follow.
