Nokia is pushing email

Consilient Technologies announced a beta program for Nokia phones for the Consilient4 messaging solution. Nokia phone models 6820, 6822, 9300 and 9500 (Communicator) are eligible for the beta for the push email client. Nokia phone users whose enterprise email platform is Microsoft Exchange, Novell GroupWise, Sun Java System Messaging Server, Oracle Collaboration Suite or any other IMAP4 server, should contact Consilient to discuss eligibility requirements for the beta program.

GameStop to buy Electronics Boutique

Video game retailer GameStop has agreed to buy rival Electronics Boutique Holdings for $1.44 billion in cash and stock. The acquisition, announced Monday, is meant to help GameStop enter new international markets.

IRS flaws open door to identity theft

Computer-security flaws at the U.S. tax-collection agency could expose millions of taxpayers to potential identity theft or illegal police snooping, according to a congressional report released on Monday. The Internal Revenue Service also is unlikely to know if outsiders are browsing through citizens’ tax returns, because it doesn’t effectively police its computer systems for unauthorized use, the Government Accountability Office found. The report was released three days after the deadline for filing personal income-tax returns, and at a time when concerns about identity theft and computer security are running high.

Microsoft and Research In Motion (RIM) announced a product collaboration and joint marketing agreement to extend enterprise instant messaging (IM) and presence to BlackBerry subscribers through connectivity with Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 and BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Companies are using Live Communications Server to deploy enterprise-grade IM and presence capabilities across their networks and through federated connections with other organizations running Live Communications Server.

Instead of safeguarding their notes with a usual alphanumeric password, the user chooses several spots on a picture of his own choice to generate a visual key to his data.
