NEC has launched the world’s thinnest foldaway mobile phone in Hong Kong. The company says that the new cell phone, which is 11.9 mm thick when folded and slimmer than an AA battery, is equipped with a 1.3-megapixel digital camera, 1.9-inch color display and music player.

In case you’re getting chased by paparazzi, it’s good to know that researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have come up with a way to prevent digital cameras and digital video cameras from capturing that secret shot. CNet says that the technology detects the presence of a digital camera up to 33 feet away and can then shoot a targeted beam of light at the lens.

Belkin announces the new TuneBase for iPod shuffle that lets you mount, power, and charge your shuffle in your vehicle. It will be shipping in North America in November 2005 for $39.99.

Belkin’s existing accessories are both compatible with the iPod nano and are available in both black and white colors, such as the TuneCast II and Auto Kit for iPod. The TuneCast II, an FM transmitter that plays music from your MP3 player through FM radio waves, plugs into the nano’s headphone jack. The Auto Kit charges the nano in your car.
