Logitech unveiled its first rechargeable, wireless keyboard–dubbed the diNovo Edge–and the ultra-thin device is expected to be available in the United States starting in November for $199. The diNovo Edge was designed with style and functionality in mind–with a thickness of only three quarters of an inch–and it’s made of shiny black Plexiglas and situated in an aluminum frame. In addition to its Bluetooth wireless functionality, the diNovo Edge keyboard features a built-in touch pad scroll panel, called the TouchDisc, which enables users to navigate general interfaces without the use of a mouse. TouchDisc is designed to function with PCs running on Microsoft’s Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center Edition, or the upcoming Windows Vista operating system.

Hewlett-Packard has no plans for a battery recall, despite efforts by several of its competitors to replace millions of notebook PC battery packs. The Palo Alto, Calif., computer giant said that, following a review, it did not see reason to replace notebook battery packs containing lithium-ion cells manufactured by Sony that were shipped with some of its notebooks. Manufacturing defects in some Sony lithium-ion cells have lead to battery packs overheating and even a handful of notebook fires. The condition has lead to the recall of more than 7 million battery packs to date by several top manufacturers.

Cingular Wireless on Friday sued a private eye caught up in the scandal over the Hewlett-Packard leak investigation, seeking to make him pay for allegedly obtaining customer call records under false pretenses. The Atlanta-based company said in federal court papers it wants Charles Kelly, his firm CAS Agency, and any of its agents to return all Cingular customer information they may have, give up any profits they made for getting the data and pay unspecified damages for their conduct.
