Apple’s unreleased iPhone 2.0 software has already been cracked–before it even ships, at least that’s what a renegade group of developers have claimed.

The iPhone Dev Team claim to have cracked the software, meaning yet more pressure on Apple in the cat and mouse game between software developers and the owners of a million unlocked iPhones and the company and its network partners.

Acer unveiled a line of multimedia-optimized laptops in New York on Wednesday at its splashy, first-ever U.S. press conference, where it also announced the close of its acquisition of Dutch computer-maker Packard Bell.

Acer unveiled the Aspire 8920 and 6920 series of notebooks, with a new design the company is calling Aspire Gemstone “blue.” The laptops, which come in both 18.4-inch and 16-inch versions, include a Blu-Ray disc drive, full high-definition LCD screens and support for the Dolby Pro Logic 2.0 surround-sound audio system.

SanDisk unveiled the multi-faceted Sansa Fuze MP3 player. The music player is loaded with capabilities and features to keep consumers well entertained while on the go. Trimble announced the availability of a new broadband wireless modem for the Nomad outdoor rugged handheld computer. The EVDO high-speed cellular data modem, made by Franklin Wireless, allows users to communicate from the field to office or other locations where Sprint cellular connectivity is available in the U.S. Expanding upon the Nomad’s current Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities by adding advanced cellular technology, users now have the ability to move about more freely and extend their range while working in the field.

The broadband wireless modem allows the Nomad to send data via the cellular network at broadband speeds up to 1 Mb per second, access the Internet and email, and send/receive information from remote locations. GPS positions, collected field data and other project-related information can be sent in real-time wherever cellular connectivity is available.

Researchers are clamoring that this is the year you must deal with mobile security or get hit by phishing and malware attacks on the devices in your employee’s pocket.

Security pros are predicting users can expect these attacks and more in 2008. Twice in roughly the past week, security researchers at McAfee found mobile malware targeting users in China–the first time threatening Windows Mobile devices, while the most recently attack targeted Symbian Series 60 phones.

Nathaniel had an Xbox 360 upon which he collected signatures and custom artwork from notable members of the gaming community. When the console broke, he called Xbox support and explained the situation. The phone representative assured him the artwork and signatures would be safe and sound during the repair process so Nathaniel hesitantly sent it on its way. When the console was returned to him, the case was clean. No artwork by Luke McKay, no Bungie signatures, no funny lines written by the Rooster Teeth Productions staff. Everything was gone.

Bungie employees expressed desire to help fix the situation. Despite the fact that Bungie had absolutely nothing to do with what happened, they wanted to help make things right with Nathaniel. A large box packed full of Halo swag arrived on Nathaniel’s doorstep. It took Bungie six days total to gather numerous goodies, pack them up, ship it off, and have it arrive at his house. The quickness in which they responded is absolutely astounding. Bungie goes above and beyond with their fans each and every day, but this time they truly outdid themselves.

Agendus for Palm OS version 12 includes powerful journaling capabilities, a personal project manager, all new “at-a-glance” or Card views now more colorfully organized and streamlined, a new Contact View “Photo Dialer” mode, support for attaching items (documents, images, etc.) to meetings, tasks, memos and contacts and standalone alarms, just to name a few.

Version 12.06 is a maintenance release introducing full support for the GSM (AT&T) Palm Centro smartphone. In particular, by upgrading to version 12.06, owners of the GSM based Centro will be able to take advantage of Agendus’ contact dialing, emailing and text messaging integration capabilities.

Resco, provider of end-user mobile applications, released a major upgrade of its Resco Explorer 2008 for Palm OS.

New Explorer version supports Bluetooth FTP profile. Explorer can browse all devices implementing this profile–Nokia phones, desktop computers with the Bluetooth connection etc. Explorer allows also the opposite activity–browsing the Palm PDA from another device equipped with needed software. Bluetooth connection enables complete file management and even activities such as playing remote mp3 songs.
