Personalized spam rising sharply, study finds

A new study by Cisco Systems Inc. found an alarming increase in the amount of personalized spam. Unlike traditional spam, personalized spam, known as “spear phishing” messages, often sail through mail filters unmolested. They’re sent in smaller chunks and come from accounts set up at reputable Web-based e-mail services.

Microsoft knew about Xbox 360 disc-scratch problem, employee claims

In documents filed in court in Seattle last week, Microsoft admitted it was aware of problems with the Xbox 360 damaging discs. Instead of spending the money to fix the problem, Microsoft put a warning in the manual saying such issues were the fault of the user.
