DataViz announced that its new RoadSync product for Palm Powered handhelds and smartphones is shipping. Based on the Exchange ActiveSync protocol licensed from Microsoft, RoadSync provides wireless synchronization with Exchange Server 2003.

Harman Kardon unveiled the Harman Kardon Drive + Play, an integrated iPod docking system designed for automotive use. It’s compatible with all docking iPods and includes a wireless FM modulator, and a 3.5mm audio output jack that allows Drive + Play to be connected to any vehicle. Harman Kardon Drive + Play, with a suggested retail price of $199.95, will be available in the U.S., beginning in September 2005.

Business Week reports the Federal Communications Commission has recommended approval of Sprint Corp.’s $35 billion acquisition of Nextel Communications Inc. Shareholders from both companies are scheduled to vote on the merger Wednesday.

mTLD Top Level Domain, which was formed by Microsoft, Nokia, the GSM Association, Vodafone Group, and others, will start issuing Internet domain names under a new .mobi top-level domain name. The .mobi domain is intended for sites that are designed to be used on cell phones and other mobile devices.

Sprint will pay $1.3 billion in cash for wireless reseller U.S. Unwired, a move that erases a legal challenge to Sprint’s pending merger with Nextel. Internet.com reports that last month, US Unwired filed for an injunction to block the deal, which it claimed would violate a non-compete agreement in its 1998 contract with Sprint.
