Hutch has announced the launch of HutchMail, a GPRS-based solution that allows you access to your office mail on your Hutch phone and can be deployed across all levels of a corporate organization. You can use your Hutch phone to access email from Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes.

Japanese owners of Sony’s PSP may have been surprised last week when the first major PlayStation Portable firmware update arrived. Called PSP 2.0, the upgrade includes a new, built-in PSP Web browser that allows you to connect wirelessly to the Internet. The North American version is expected Aug. 12.

Gizmondo Europe has rescheduled the launch of the Gizmondo multi-entertainment handheld in North America from August 11 to the holiday season. Gizmondo is powered by Microsoft Windows CE advanced real-time operating system. It provides gaming, multimedia messaging, an MP3 music player, Mpeg4 movie playing capability, a digital camera and a GPRS network link to allow wide-area network gaming.

The company’s latest State of the Blogosphere report recorded 14.2 million blogs worldwide, up from 7.8 million in March. The report says that the growth also reflects a growing use of blogs outside the US. Technorati found significant growth in Japan, Korea, China, the UK, France and Brazil.

Wired Magazine reports that a law signed last month by Gov. Kenny Guinn made Nevada the first U.S. state to approve the use of wireless, handheld gambling devices at its hotel-casinos. Under the law, the devices can be used only in public areas of casinos that have 100 or more slot machines and that offer at least one other gambling game. The devices would be barred from hotel rooms and other private areas.=20

Creative announced the Zen Vision MP3 player with a 3.7-inch SharpPix high-resolution 640×480 262,144-color screen for photo viewing and digital video playback. The 30GB Zen Vision carries up to 15,000 songs, tens of thousands of photos, or up to 120 hours of video.
