Sony has unveiled the latest addition to its new MP3 player, the Walkman Bean. The bean-shaped player offers 512Mb and 1GB capacities in white, black, blue or pink, with a one-line OLED display and, pop-up USB connector. The 512MB version will also be available with an FM tuner.

Intel launched a Digital Communities Initiative to help cities across the globe build their own wireless broadband networks. Red Herring reports that Intel, IBM, Dell, Cisco, and SAP, have worked with 13 cities so far. They’re working to set up WiFi hotspots, and equip city workers with laptop computers or handheld devices while on the job, from inspecting buildings to streaming videos of crime scenes.

Nokia has denied reports claiming it had reached a deal with Apple to include iTunes support in a future mobile phone, the N91. However, Nokia did say that the way it has designed its phone would allow developers to produce applications to allow the device to use iTunes.

The Washington Post reports that when Microsoft’s Xbox 360 comes out this fall, you’ll be able to choose between a fully loaded system and a more basic version without a hard drive, wireless controller and other features. The premium Xbox 360 console will sell for $399.99 in the United States, Canada and Mexico and 399.99 euros in continental Europe. Meanwhile, the scaled-back version, dubbed “Xbox 360 Core System,” will go for $299.99, and 299.99 euros in Europe.

A number of damaging worms are targeting corporate networks worldwide, with major news outlets CNN, ABC News, the New York Times and the Financial Times in London among the most prominent victims so far. ComputerWeekly.com says variants of the Zotob worm are responsible for the attacks. The worms take advantage of a security hole in Windows 2000.
