Find free mobile content at GoChannels.net

PALMPOWER SITE OF THE MONTH

By Steve Niles

The new Palm m515 comes with a whopping 16MB of RAM. That's a lot of storage space. So much, in fact, that at first I didn't even know what to do with it all. I started thinking about what I really use my Palm handheld for, and it occurred to me that one of the things I enjoy most is downloading some of my favorite Web content using AvantGo's software (at http://www.avantgo.com). I've got about five AvantGo channels stored on my handheld right now, and every time I HotSync, the pages are updated with the latest Web content.

Now that I have 16MB of space, I can download even more great channels. With so much to choose from, however, I wasn't sure what to check out first. But I did know where to go to answer that question.

PalmPower's Site of the Month is called GoChannels.net. You can find it at http://www.gochannels.net. It's pictured in Figure A.

GoChannels.net was started by a guy named Ramon as a kind of resource library of free mobile Web sites. Visitors are free to browse around, looking up mobile channels by category. Or, if you're a mobile content provider, you can add your site to Ramon's growing list so others can find you more easily.

GoChannels.net conveniently lists the most recent additions to the site, and you can also check out the most popular channels to save you time.

If you're looking for mobile Web content to populate the megabytes on your handheld, then pay a visit to GoChannels.net to get an idea of what's out there. You'll be surprised by some of the options.
