.SUMMARY When considering handheld technology, you might feel overwhelmed by the vast number of options and solutions available. With information spread throughout the Web, it can be difficult to find what you need to make the right choices. Fortunately, thanks to a new online resource, the work has been done for you. Contributing Editor Steve Niles will introduce you to CEO Agenda, a great site that gathers everything you need to know about handheld technology solutions together into one convenient place.
.AUTHOR Steve Niles
In February of 2001, veteran publishers Earl Adkins and Curt Simon of iTech Research approached Palm, Inc. and other industry leaders such as AMD, JP Mobile, Kyocera Wireless Corp., Metrowerks, and Oracle and presented them with an idea. The idea was to create a centralized, focused resource designed to promote the enterprise adoption of handheld technology. The result was CEO Agenda, a brand new Web site dedicated to the hows and whys of integrating handheld technology into the business world.

You can find CEO Agenda at http://www.ceoagenda.net. It’s pictured in Figure A.

According to Earl Adkins, the mission of iTech Research Linked Business Solutions is to unite related and competing companies to show the companies how they can work together to offer a more complete end-to-end solution to their customers. The resulting Web site then becomes a resource those customers can access to learn more about the solutions that are available and see how they can fit their particular business needs.

CEO Agenda is a corporate adoption tool, speaking specifically to the company decision makers who might be considering integrating handheld technology into their business. A wide array of information is available, broken down by industry, best practices, and partners (the companies included on CEO Agenda). There are also papers available from industry analysts, and there are links to important news and events.

To draw visitors, iTech Research is distributing briefing books to CEOs, COOs, CIOs, etc. of the Fortune 2000 companies directing them to CEO Agenda. While these businesses may be the immediate target audience, the information and resources contained at CEO Agenda can be valuable to companies of any size.

.H1 Industries
As it states on the Web site, "Enterprises in diverse industries are using the portable power of handheld computing to connect users with mission-critical data, leverage existing technology, maximize return on investment for custom applications, and enhance existing business practices." The industries covered at CEO Agenda include financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and government. Through a variety of white papers and press releases, you’ll learn how specific companies are targeting each of these industries with important business solutions.

.H1 Best practices
Under best practices, CEO Agenda reveals how "Mobilizing enterprise applications enable better customer service, foster sales, improve employee productivity, and lower overall costs leading to greater shareholder value." You’ll learn more about such topics as front-office applications, back-office applications, infrastructure management, messaging, and security.

.H1 Partners
The partners section breaks down the information resources by company. Here you’ll find links to white papers and case studies from AMD, JP Mobile, Kyocera Wireless Corp., Metrowerks, Oracle, Palm, Inc., SAP America, Siebel Systems, Inc., Sprint PCS, Symbol Technologies, Inc., and V-ONE Corporation.

.H1 All you need in one location
The idea behind CEO Agenda is a great one. Gather everything you need to know about handheld technology solutions together into one easy-to-navigate hub Web site. When considering handheld technology, you might have felt overwhelmed by the vast number of options and solutions. With information spread throughout the Web, it can be difficult to find what you need quickly and easily.

Fortunately, iTech Research has done the work for you, giving its partners a common forum to reach you, the enterprise user. You can "see the big picture all in one place," as Adkins himself put it. CEO Agenda offers you a filtered environment where you can see immediately what’s available without spending hours digging your way through the whole of the Internet.

At the time of this writing, CEO Agenda was still partially under construction. However, it’s scheduled to be fully up and running by November. According to Adkins, enhancements to the site include an executive response form, allowing you to deliver feedback regarding all the great resources you find.
