Two TTC subway stations will have free WiFi starting Monday, but full cell service isn’t yet available because a deal hasn’t been struck with a carrier, the Toronto Star reports.
You’ll be able to check your email and access the internet from the platforms at Bloor-Yonge and St. George stations on Monday morning, but calling and texting won’t be available until a carrier hops onboard with BAI Canada the company that secured the $25 million contract to provide 61 subway stations with wireless capabilities.
The TTC’s Brad Ross said cell providers haven’t stepped up to the plate yet, and added that Monday will be a soft launch.
An official launch will take place sometime in December, giving the TTC a few weeks to test the system.
