Microsoft has responded to a listing by computer retailer Dell which reported that Windows 8 applications would run on Xbox One.
“The suggestion that all Windows 8 apps run on Xbox One is not accurate,” said Microsoft in a statement to Eurogamer. Microsoft did not clarify is that meant that some of the Windows 8 applications would run on Xbox One, however.
Dell’s product listing for the Xbox One contains the claim. “Consider the game officially changed,” it says. “With all your favorite Windows 8 apps able to be run on and synced to your Xbox One, now your phone, desktop, tablet and TV can all give you a unified web and entertainment experience.”
Microsoft has previously said the Xbox One will run a layer of the Windows kernel as part of its OS.
