CARNEYS POINT TWP. More than 500 high school students from New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, and Maryland will compete in the “Duel on the Delaware” Robotics Competition on Oct. 19.
Sponsored by DuPont, Salem Community College, and First State Robotics, the 12th annual event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Salem Community College’s DuPont Field House.
The event will feature 34 high school student teams, each equipped with a robot that they designed and built, competing in a Frisbee sports type game called Ultimate Ascent.
Each match lasts slightly more than two minutes and is played by two competing alliances of three robots. They compete to score as many Frisbees into their goals as they can during the match, which is played on a 27 -by-54 foot playing field.
