Apple on Friday launched its first-ever trade-in program for old iPhones in an effort to boost demand for the new version or versions, expected to be unveiled on Sept. 10.
The program was widely expected and had been reported by several media outlets before being confirmed by Apple. It expands an existing Apple Recycling service that lets customers mail in their old gadgets for credit or gift cards.
