A shortage of regional automated production services propelled a Forest City entrepreneur to establish a customized robotics business.
“It has not been much of a tapped area in our neck of the woods,” said John Mele, a Dunmore native and principal at Jam Works LLC. “We are fortunate it worked out.”
Mr. Mele, 50, had experience in electronics from his Navy service and worked afterward for an Italian company building equipment and developing automation controls.
“There was a need for differing automation techniques that manufacturers couldn’t solve,” Mr. Mele said. “I began a self-learning process.”
