<p>A shortage of regional automated production services propelled a Forest City entrepreneur to establish a customized robotics business.</p><p>"It has not been much of a tapped area in our neck of the woods," said John Mele, a Dunmore native and principal at Jam Works LLC. "We are fortunate it worked out."</p><p>Mr. Mele, 50, had experience in electronics from his Navy service and worked afterward for an Italian company building equipment and developing automation controls.</p><p>"There was a need for differing automation techniques that manufacturers couldn't solve," Mr. Mele said.
