Consider this a living document of TiVo’s next generation DVR lineup that we’ll continue to update through the TiVo Series 5 launch.
NamingWhile it remains unclear if the “Premiere” moniker will be carried over, two data points indicate TiVo’s sticking with the generational approach and we can confirm new TiVo retail hardware will at least be partially referred to as Series 5.
ModelsAt this point, we know of two models, with at least one config going by TCD848000.4 Tuner, Digital Cable & OTA6 Tuner, Digital Cable only
Cost & TimingWe believe TiVo is on track for a 2013 launch, with signs pointing to late summer or fall. At this time, we posses no pricing intel, although we’d assume TiVo will continue to offer a lower-end highly subsidized model and more pricey higher-end units with smaller subsidies. Related, we expect TiVo to continue requiring a monthly subscription or large, lump sum payment for service.
