WATERLOO It’s no surprise given his lanky, six-foot-seven frame that Thorsten Heins likes watching NBA basketball in the few spare moments when he actually has time to turn on the TV.
“I love the Miami Heat,” confessed the president and chief executive officer of BlackBerry.
And it’s not just because the Heat are the defending NBA champs. He fell in love with the team when his employer at the time, German engineering and electronics conglomerate Siemens, sent him to Florida from 1996 to 2000 to expand the company’s wireless infrastructure in the United States.
Heins is also a fan of Clint Eastwood and one of his favourite movies is The Pursuit of Happyness, about a talented but homeless man played by Will Smith who overcomes long odds to achieve business success.
